Financial Assistance Programs
KDMHA has wonderful community support from various organizations that provide assistance to families so that players can play hockey.

The Hockey Canada Foundation Assist Fund was created in response to the many families experiencing financial challenges as a result of COVID-19. The goal of the Fund is to help Canadian youth access hockey and return to the game they love.
With more than $1 million dollars in funding available for the 2021/2022 season, the Assist Fund will provide up to $500 per player in registration fee subsidies to approved applicants who are registered with a Hockey Canada-sanctioned association.

About Us — Making Play Possible removes the economic obstacles that could prevent a child from accessing much needed physical, social, and creative opportunities. Working with government, businesses, communities, families, and volunteers we ensure that the children and youth of Leeds-Grenville have access to recreational and athletic activities. Together we give 350 children a year an opportunity to play team sports, dance, learn new skills, take life-saving swimming classes, learn music and other forms of self-expression.

Who We Are—The Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) Champions for Kids Foundation (C4K) is a charity formed in January 2008 to discreetly help level the playing field for UCDSB children and their families. Although our main focus is to assist families in allowing their children to participate in sports, arts and other fun activities outside of school hours, we also meet unique needs like covering minor medical expenses (i.e. eyeglasses), providing gas cards to parents with a child in the hospital, or purchasing a winter coat for a child who needs warmth. All assistance is kept confidential.

About Us—Their Opportunity exists to support under serviced families with the means to enroll their children into local sports and recreation programs. We set out to eliminate the financial barriers so children can develop essential life skills such as confidence and sportsmanship, as well as develop a healthy lifestyle. Their Opportunity hosts a unique Giveback Program where children receiving funding are required to “pay it forward” within their community.

How can our program work for you?—Our program helps financially disadvantaged children play hockey by ensuring kids have equal financial access to the game. Often times, Lace ‘Em Up funding starts where another organizations’ funding ends. The Lace ‘Em Up funds are provided directly to your Minor Hockey Association who will ensure your outstanding registration fees are paid, and work with you and your sporting organization to determine other areas of need, and appropriate methods of disbursement. |
