Hello KDMHA families,

We trust all our hockey families have been enjoying summer. While it is hard to believe that fall is just around the corner, the KDMHA Executive is busy planning for the upcoming season.

First, Thank You to all who have registered for the upcoming season; if you haven’t, please register ASAP so that we can finalize team sizes (Note: several divisions have waitlists—we will do our best as always to fit everyone in).

With Ontario now in Step Three of the Road to Reopen plan, all indications from our governing bodies is for a return to hockey for the Fall as normal as possible.

STORM

For Storm, we have been given the go ahead to start tryouts on or after August 16. The tryout schedule for U13 to U18 will be posted soon. Based on Hockey Canada's U11 Pathways, U11 tryouts will follow in September.

Storm Executive will start Coach interviews for Competitive teams in the next few weeks to be ready for the early tryouts. We await the final direction for league play, but expect it will be regular hockey for this season. OWHA has set provincials for qualifying competitive teams for April 7-10, 2022 in GTA.

Registration for conditioning camp in all divisions and Comp Tryouts is now open. You can find links at the bottom of the Registration page on our website: http://kemptvillehockey.com/page.php?page_id=85038

ROYALS

For Royals, we have now received direction from HEO, that Associations will move to Stage 4 of the Return to Hockey - Traditional hockey:

  • Hockey Returns to Normal

  • 5 vs 5 hockey

  • Body contact/checking allowed at appropriate levels

  • Inter-branch play

  • Tournaments may be permitted (further information to be provided)

Rep tryouts will commence in early September after Kings have completed their tryouts. We are still accepting Rep Head Coach Applications. If you want to apply for Rep coach, please submit your application as per the details on the website as soon as possible. Interviews will commence ASAP.

Registration for Conditioning camps for all divisions and Rep Tryout is now open and will commence after Labour day weekend. Please register early as there will be caps on numbers permitted. You can find links at the bottom of the Registration page on our website:

PAYMENT

Players must register online and pay for camps and tryouts before attending the first session- this reduces workload on our volunteers and allows us to ensure participant numbers will meet the COVID restrictions at the facility.

Season registration fees are due September 15. We hope that all families are able to return to hockey. KDMHA Executive understands that not all situations are the same and during this time there are so many uncertainties for families and finances. Please contact the Registrars or Treasurer for questions about the registration process, fees, and financial assistance options; we will do our best to work with families. No players will be placed on teams/permitted on the ice until payment (or payment arrangements) has been received.

We strongly encourage parents to use the online or telephone banking method. This method also eases the workload on KDMHA volunteers.

Using online/telephone banking through your financial institution (KDMHA is ONLY set up for RBC, CIBC/PC Financial, Scotiabank/Tangerine, TD, BMO); follow instruction for adding "Kemptville Minor Hockey" as a Payee, then use the 10 digit phone number you registered with as your account number (please update your online banking records if you have registered with a different phone number than in previous years).

Full Payment Details can be found on KDMHA website under How Do I Pay

COVID

KDMHA Executive are working with NG Municipality and the local Public Health Unit to update our existing Covid policies and contact tracing. While we expect hockey to be similar to pre-Covid, we will still have protocols and guidelines to follow to ensure our players, volunteers, and families remain as safe as possible.

All updates will be posted on our website and social media. Please follow for future updates.

Wishing everyone a wonderful rest of the summer and looking forward to seeing everyone back on the ice in the fall.
